OMG! Omahe Mbok Giyem

Yet not a week ago, me and fellow thursdiner tried OMG (Omahe Mbok Giyem). Located in the city of Bantul, it had no signage on the main road. Just make sure your GPS ready or quickly turn east as soon as you see SAMSAT BANTUL signage right after passing PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul from north.

The venue was a greyish-purple tainted Javanese village brick house (or as the officials says: Javanese country house; which naturally refers to non-ceiling house), decorated in several artpieces, smells like Mirota Batik, and plays Javanese Jazz song to sums up the atmosphere. It was a very cute place, with a real deal tablescape glassware.

Martabak Cake Brownies itself is an innovation of martabak terang bulan/kue bandung by replacing its cake with brownies. It was surprisingly good in taste and came with variants of filling, such as: chocolate, cheese, sesame, raisins, banana, strawberry jam, blueberry jam, pineapple jam, or mixtures of maximum three of those. Large pan prices (18 slices) were 20k for plain, 25k for single filling, 30k for double filling, 35k for triple variant of filling; and half the price for medium sizes (8-10 slices).

Pisang Plenet Khas Semarang

I was coming to this place expecting a slightly-pinched-then-grilled banana and i was in shock after i saw the visual of what a “pisang plenet” was. It was forcefully pinched that it looked more like pancakes than banana, yet not resulting in a mess (still wondering how they might done that).

Pisang plenet was sold as sandwich, double layer of pinched banana with variation of fillings.

Available fillings were classic (pineapple jam and dusted sugar) 2.5k, chocolate 2.5k, peanuts 2.5k, chocopeanuts 2.5k, cheese 4k, chococheese 4k.
